Our Fostering team has been selected as a finalist in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2018 as a result of their outstanding work with children and families.
We were nominated for the Team of the Year, Children’s Services prize and attended an exclusive awards ceremony in London in November. The team is one of 93 finalists across 16 categories, with the winners from each category competing against each other to be named the “Overall Social Worker of the Year 2018.”
The prestigious awards ceremony is the leading celebration of its kind in the social care sector, and recognises the achievements and successes of the profession’s most innovative and dedicated social workers.
Annie Hudson, Strategic Director – Children’s Services at award sponsor London Borough of Lambeth said: “This award recognises the very best teamwork in children’s social care. These teams have demonstrated that, through excellent working together, they make a discernible and very positive difference to the lives of the children and families. Reaching the finals is a really outstanding achievement and everyone involved should feel very proud”
Dan Buckle, Director of Family Services at Fair Ways, expressed “I am very proud of our Fostering team for their achievement in being shortlisted for this award. They have worked very hard in the last few years to improve service delivery, provide fantastic levels of support and put increased emphasis on outcomes for young people in our care. Whilst of course, we would be have been honoured to win Children’s Services, Team of the Year, it is a huge credit to the team to have been shortlisted.”
The awards were judged by leading influencers in the social work sector including Chief Social Workers Isabelle Trowler and Lyn Romeo, Children’s Commissioner for England Anne Longfield OBE and Maris Stratulis (England Manager, British Association of Social Workers). People who have received support from social workers were also represented on the judging panel.
