Half term fun for Fostering

Last week was Half term for our young people in fostering. Here’s a look at what they got up to…

Our big event of the week was on Wednesday night when our whole fostering community got together for a night at Injoy play centre in Southampton. This of course included our Young people but also the foster carers, their birth children and our fostering team. It was lovely to see children of all ages playing together and having fun. The night was spent on trampolines, climbing walls, the leap of faith and soft play and topped off with pizza for everyone. Getting together as a community is important to us to celebrate and recognise everyone’s hard work and to give an opportunity for people going through similar experiences to get together and talk whether that be foster carers, birth children or foster children.

Some of our young people also spent time with their support workers this week undertaking various activities including pumpkin carving, cooking, baking, playing games, independent life skills, bowling and the cinema.

Finally, on Thursday some of our fostering team facilitated an activity session with the birth children from our fostering families. This event was important for us to hold as we understand some of the adjustments birth children have to make when they become a fostering family. We are so proud of how all of the birth children welcome the foster children into their home and would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to them for all they do as part of the fostering journey.
