This is a relatively new position to Fair Ways after the successful opening of our Therapeutic Hub based in Fareham, Hampshire. The Hub opened in April 2018 and follows a ‘trauma informed care’ approach to offer evidence based assessments and interventions to Fair Way’s children and young people and their support networks. Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will be involved in, amongst other tasks;

  • Working as part of the therapeutic Hub Team following a systemic , trauma informed care model;
  • Providing specialist assessments and interventions across all front line services for children and young people who have likely experienced trauma;
  • Facilitating training and supervision to front-line staff to help up-skill them when working with Looked After Children;
  • Participating in team and service development and audit to ensure internal processes are embedded and used consistently;
  • Participating in a duty rota (during working hours) offering specialist mental health consultation and advice to front-line staff sometimes in crisis situations.

Personal Skills

Our ideal candidate will hold a professional Health or Social Care qualification to degree level and have up to date registration with the relevant professional body. In addition, you will have recognised training in additional psychological interventions such as CBT, DBT, DDP and NVR and have experience of Tier 2 or 3 community CAMHS.  You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to analyse behaviour in both children and staff and support in the reflection on causes and be able to support the subsequent planning to address this.

You will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally and be able to build safe boundaried relationships effectively with service users, colleagues and external parties. Applicants must have a full driving licence and have access to use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure. The disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
