Salary: Band F £11.42 – £13.72 p/hour (approximately £27,057.68 – £32,140.68 p/annum)
Hours: Alternate Week Shift Pattern (6 days on, in a 14 day period – inc 1/2 sleep ins p/week)

Normal Days start at 7:30am until 10:30pm, depending on the needs of the home.

Fair Ways are in the process of opening our first 6 bedded Residential Children’s Home based in Wickham, Hampshire to support vulnerable children aged between 7 and 14. The service aim is to ensure we prepare the children in our care to move onto safe and nurturing foster care placements which will be achieved through early intervention.

Our new home will be operating on a week on week off rota system starting at 8:00am Wednesday to the following Wednesday with a one hour break each day. There will also be a requirement to complete between 1-2 sleep in’s per week. During your week on shift, you will be given a 24 hour time out period away from the home.

What does my working week look like?

As a Team Leader, you can expect to be actively involved in positively engaging with the young people, planning the week ahead and working as a reflective practitioner to ensure a therapeutic community is kept throughout the home. You will be expected to take leadership of the home and the staff team should the Manager and Deputy Manager be absent, and provide advice and guidance to support staff to develop effective techniques when managing challenging behavior. You can also expect to participate in the interviewing process of new employees and their subsequent development during their employment with us.

Monday – Friday includes school runs, paperwork, shopping and general parenting responsibilities, Saturdays in the home are allocated to Contact Sessions with family members and Sundays are a protected house activity day for the staff and children to enjoy together.

In addition, during your first 6 months of employment, you will undergo core training including PACE (Playful/Accepting/Curious/Empathetic), CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection), Prevent, Behaviour Management, CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) and more. Once you have passed your probation period, you will be registered on a nationally recognised Childcare qualification which will provide you with the skills to work in Residential Homes throughout the Country.

Person Specification              

Suitable candidates for this role will be an enthusiastic and honest addition to the team, with the ability to build strong boundaried relationships with staff and service users. You will be assertive and driven and skilled in organizing, leading and motivating a team. Ideally you will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent as well as having extensive experience of supporting children and young people in a residential setting. Having qualifications and experience is not essential as our In-House training department can support staff through relevant certifications. Having effective communication skills both verbal and non- verbal as well as being IT literate is essential. All candidates must have a full driving licence and have access to the use of a car.
