Fair Ways SEMH School is located in Swanwick, Southampton. Our education is based on a therapeutic model and evidenced in our teaching, learning and relationships. We ensure all pupils can achieve their goals in a personalised educational environment.

Our experienced and skilled staff tailor individual behaviour management strategies to improve pupils’ self-esteem and confidence. Young people develop their ability to build relationships, manage their own behaviour and eventually become motivated and enthusiastic learners.

Pupils’ individual timetables meet their academic needs but with equal emphasis on emotional and social development. A high staff to student ratio ensures a safe environment to explore the difficulties of learning or socialising in larger groups.






Fair Ways School provides education for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Many of our pupils have additional complex needs such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD). Our young people arrive to our school from a variety of backgrounds including full time residential care & foster care. We are described as a Special Therapeutic Education Provision (STEP) for boys and girls with social, emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) between the ages of 11 and 19 years.

  • The requirements of the National Curriculum are taken into consideration as far as possible and that pupils proceed through the examination system appropriate to their abilities and needs.
