Fair Ways give our foster carers the training to confidently care for young people, with our comprehensive Training and Bespoke Workshops for All our carers.
Fair Ways is also an Approved City and Guilds Exam Centre meaning that we have the capacity to deliver not only in-house training, but properly accredited training courses that are externally verified, transferable and recognised for future accreditation, should foster carers choose to apply to university, change careers or evidence academic attainment etc.
Most foster care agencies and departments now offer what is often referred to as “CWDC”. What this is actually referring to is the Children’s Workforce Development Council’s Induction Standards for foster carers. This Level 2 qualification is delivered to all Fairways carers as standard.
In addition to this course Fairways Foster Carers now receive the following courses as part of their standard career progression:
- Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce
- Level 2 Counselling skills Course
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Restorative Approaches
- Team Teach
Every year we also offer grants to a small number of carers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to training, to support them through further education beyond that which we offer in-house. The above courses all count as credit towards further education.
Of course these are only our “Accredited” courses which are routinely available for all carers. In addition we have a full and extensive training calendar for non-accredited, career-enhancing courses.
